hey, I'm anne
I was unable to work and unable to get out of bed for several months with debilitating pain and depression. I thought I lost my identity when I lost the ability to work.
My path suddenly stopped...
I have always led and lived with my heart.
I was diagnosed in adulthood with an inherited retinal disease called cone rod dystrophy that led to my sight loss.
Like driving through the fog my path became unknown.
Then in Jan 2019 I suddenly had a migraine-like headache that to this day is ongoing. I was diagnosed with NDPH - New Daily Persistent Headache.
While confined to the darkness it was during this that I saw how the pandemic had magnified the struggles of the visually impaired community and those isolated by chronic illnesses. I also saw the struggle of many businesses and wanted to find some small way to help. I wanted to start something to make a difference and focus on seeing and finding beauty in everything while making an emotional connection. I strived to make my Instagram page more accessible by providing descriptive image, video and audio descriptions and including alt text descriptions.
My identity became even stronger. My path actually became clearer.
My purpose came into view.
With my Ambassadorship with Little White House & Co. I will be able to curate pieces to put together polished looks as a visually impaired person focusing on items that are easy to take on and off, comfortable, and provide confidence to be independent while looking polished and put together.
And now i'm going to help build your confidence through fashion
Much of my time is spent in darkness and indoors managing my pain and also my sensitivity to light. It is in those times that the creativity in me still exists. In those brief moments that I have when I am feeling better I seize the opportunity and that’s when I grab my iPhone and tripod, find the light, and try to capture a photograph. Sometimes I can get the help of one of my kids too!
Sharing my journey has also helped to improve my own emotional well-being and increase my resilience.
